Anthony and Pam know the challenges of running a family business all too well. The husband and wife team started Progression Solicitors eleven years ago and now have four offices across the south of the county. Anthony and Pam now employ over twenty staff and have carved a path as a go-to point for legal advice, in particular for the business community. They have helped many family businesses with issues from commercial dispute resolution through to getting start-ups going on the right legal foot. Winter sun was shining in Windermere when we met with Anthony at another family business The Pig, to talk about why they have chosen to support the Cumbria Family Business Awards.

Progression embodies many of the values that we love about family businesses, they have personality, get involved in their community and move with the times whilst retaining traditional values. They have supported projects outside the norm many times over the years, including the Cardboard Boat Race and Go Herdwick Art Trail so perhaps it’s no surprise that they wanted to be involved in the first year of Cumbria Family Business Awards.
After a couple of coffees (and maybe one wine) we got chatting about succession planning, a key issue for family business owners. Anthony and Pam are currently formulating the plan for the future of their business and are keen to help others secure the future of their own.
